In the beginning of May Ethan Buddy was so sick. I took him to the doctor because I just knew (momma's instinct) something was not right with him. Sure enough he was diagnosed with strep throat. Dr. Veeneman said, "he might throw up, sometimes kids do at the onset of strep." Well, my kids get strep throat at least twice a year and don't usually throw up with it. Doctors. What do they know?
Driving to the pharmacy to pick up the prescription, I was feeling quite relieved to know what was going on with Ethan - and knowing an antibiotic was in sight made me breathe a sigh of relief. That is until Ethan started screaming and crying out of nowhere. I thought he must just feel so awful. I tried to calm him down and hold his hand (while driving). I just wanted to get to the pharmacy and get home. But after screaming for what felt like forever he suddenly just vomited all over himself. Poor kid. Our doctor's office is in Grand Haven and this happened in Spring Lake. I felt like the best thing to do was to get home as soon as possible. That sweet boy sat in his vomit the whole rest of the way home without complaining once! We got home and poor Ethan just so deperately wanted us to turn on the heat (remember way back to May and how hot it was?). He sat on the steps next to the heat register waiting for it to come on. Suddenly he just fell asleep...right there waiting for the heat to come on. We didn't move him for a while, we just let him sleep. Scott sat at the end of the stairs standing guard so Ethan wouldn't roll off the step. It was a long night...I stayed with Ethan all night because he kept throwing up. Poor Buddy. So happy that is over with. There is nothing like seeing your child sick. I can not even come close to imagining what parents of seriously ill children have to go through. God bless them.
